Tip #23: The length of your rear axle needs to be no longer than 2.1". This length will be long enough so you will have about .205 thou. after spacing both sides which is all you need to race any tires. Longer length may help you if you're not big on getting the spacing right but is dead weight. If you are racing a chassis that doesn't require spacer(s) between the spur & gear side tire,it makes it really easy to set the amount of axle sticking out from the spur w/ your calipers. The other side is then just a matter of adding spacers until you get the same reading. Now if you happen to be racing an .800 wide hub, the spacing will have to be changed to not go over the 3 1/4" maximum width. Most hubs are .770 so this doesn't usually happen

Tip #24:Make sure when putting a guide on a chassis that the guide holder isn't bent at a down angle. The 'tongue' should be level or have a slight up angle. How much up angle is up to you but if you bend it up too much you'll have to add more guide spacers between the guide & holder so the front of the chassis won't drag & you can pass tech. You should always try to get as much of the 'wobble' out of the guide as possible. If the guide is crooked to one side it will make poor contact causing excessive braid wear & poor handling.
