LMP
Another good turnout of 12 racers were on hand for LMP last Saturday; eight from the Houston area, two from Austin, and one each from Corpus Christi and San Antonio.
PA Watson was top qualifier with a time of 3.288, a new track record for LMP. In fact, the old qualifying record was bested by several racers, and everyone qualified well. Even in the race, everyone’s fast lap was under four seconds, which I don’t recall ever seeing.
JT Teflos, making his first start in the 2021 series, took the win with 357 laps over PA and Ken Stevens at 344; PA took second by just 10 feet over Ken. Jerry Straznicky was another seven laps down in fourth.

Pro GTP
As in San Antonio a couple months ago, we had ten starters on Saturday.
Jerry Straznicky set a new Pro GTP Hillclimb qualifying record of 3.114, and as with LMP, four or five more racers qualified under the old mark. Makes you kind of wonder if/when we might see times in the twos.
It was a typical GTP race on the Hillclimb, with very fast cars under nominal control when not totally out of control. There was plenty of carnage, and three or four of us DNF’ed. By the time it was over, PA Watson was the winner with 367 laps, ahead of JT Teflos at 358, Jerry Straznicky at 349, and Matt Taylor at 318,

Thanks to everyone who made the race, especially out-of-towners, and to Ken Stevens for hanging around to marshal the GTP race that he didn’t race in.
Finally, thanks again to PA for hosting.
