The GTP race was a different animal Saturday, May 15, at Charlie's Garage in Pearl, MS. First, we have never raced this class and all we did was change bodies from LMP to GTP. Second, we didn't know how to drive them on our short 105' track. Third, we seemed to hit everyone that had a de-slot. We ran two heats of 4 but I combined the heat totals to show who was actually placing 1st thru 5th on each rotation.
After 1 rotation Keith Auwarter jumped into the lead with Bill Carlin 2nd, Terry Jensen 3rd, Chuck Hendricks 4th, and Mark Woolard 5th. At the end of 2 rotations Keith built a 3 lap lead over Terry in 2nd, Bill C 3rd, Chuck 4th, and Mark 5th. Keith and Bill C were on the same lap after 3 rotations with Terry 3rd, Chuck 4th, and Scott Woolard moving up to 5th. At half way Keith was ahead by two laps over Chuck now in 2nd, Bill C 3rd, Terry 4th, and Scott 5th. After 5 rotations Keith had a 4 lap lead over Chuck in 2nd with Bill C 3rd, Scott advancing to 4th, and Terry dropping to 5th. Keith was still ahead after the 6th rotation but Chuck now was only 1 lap back with Terry 3rd, Bill C 4th, and Scott 5th. Chuck took the lead after round 7 with Keith 2nd 2 laps back, Terry 3rd but getting closer to Keith, Bill C 4th, and Scott 5th. At the finish it was Chuck 1st, Keith 2nd, Terry 3rd, Scott 4th, and Bill C 5th.

I hope we decide to race GTP again perhaps every other month. Next week it is back to LMP and Flexi Wing Cars with the Vintage wire chassis wing cars scheduled for May 29.
We have had motor issues in just about every race lately and maybe we need to talk about adding other motors to our approved list. 3 dropped out with motor issues Saturday. Any suggestions for motors we could run?
