Very nice turnout last night…great to see five racers on the track for local scale racing. New/returning racer Bill Beckwith showed a lot of improvement from last time I saw him race, and is getting the hang of the Engleman; he’s been hampered by an old loaner Indy car and other equipment issues, but he’s already taking steps to improve that situation.
Open-Wheel Indy/F1
Gonzo and I were neck and neck most of the race, then in heat 7 or so he lost the handle on the car, and I got the win. Charles Campa was third. Bill Beckwith struggled with an old, past-it loaner car…he has a new one on order. After being built a year ago and without much intervening maintenance, James Meadours’s car was a cosmetic and mechanical mess, and wouldn’t stay in the slot…it’s now in the shop for a rebuild.
Results, crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Scott Taylor................196.......6.4765
2. John Gonzalez.............182......6.5314
3. Charles Campa............178......6.7495
4. Bill Beckwith................138......7.5780
5. James Meadours.........129......6.7685
Scale GTP
Gonzo and James led after heat 1, but had handling issues the rest of the way while my car was Big Time Planted and good for the win. Gonzo was second and Charles third. James was driving very aggressively and set fast lap (!), but that aggressiveness turned into a boatload of untimely de-slots. Bill struggled with an old body that tore from its front mounting points…the body was an air brake down the straights.
Results, crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Scott Taylor................227......5.7107
2. John Gonzalez.............214......5.8744
3. Charles Campa............191......6.3203
4. James Meadours.........164......5.5470
5. Bill Beckwith...............147......6.8120
