Group F
Ken Reese jumped out in front and stayed there, winning by 28 laps over Jeff Coulam; Jeff led Jim Honeycutt home by seven. I didn’t get to see much of it, spending too much time in the pits working on a neglected, poorly-maintained car…time for a rebuild.
Results, modified crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Ken Reese.............281......4.5629
2. Jeff Coulam...........253......5.0541
4. Jim Honeycutt.......246......5.0462
4. Scott Taylor...........108......5.1712
Open F
My car was a rocket with a Group 19-armed motor I built a couple of years ago but had never raced. The car was stuck in the turns, but had a couple of age-related non-motor problems that cost some minimal lost time in the pits. Still, in the end I was fortunate to take the win, 12 up on Jim who was followed by Charles Campa and Cliff Wheeler; Charles was about 20 feet ahead of Cliff as time expired. Ken Reese and Jeff Coulam had some real handling problems in Open F…and Jeff was made even more miserable by a really sore back…ouch!
Results, modified crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Scott Taylor...........338......3.5158
2. Jim Honeycutt.......326......3.6795 (non-points racer)
3. Charles Campa......320......4.0077
4. Cliff Wheeler.........320......3.6789 (non-points racer)
5. Ken Reese.............303......3.8516
6. Jeff Coulam...........272......4.0073
