Group F
Six racers took the Group F green flag, and Ken Reese and Cliff Wheeler swapped the lead throughout. Ken ended up in the winner’s circle when Cliff had a bad heat 8, and I snatched third from James Meadours who also had a rough heat 8 on his favorite lane…black. Thanks to Ken for the tires that worked great for me, and for a loaner car for James that was top-notch.
Statistical anomaly of the night, #1, and a question for all the math majors out there because I can’t count that far out from the decimal without getting lost: did Cliff take fast lap honors from Ken by three millionths of a second?
Results, modified crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Ken Reese................259......4.827912
2. Cliff Wheeler............257......4.827909 (non-points racer)
3. Scott Taylor..............251......5.2181
4. James Meadours........247......5.1017
5. John Gonzalez..........229......5.1101
6. Aiden Trinidad..........198......5.2655
C-20 / 27 Light
In the final points race of the C-20/27 Light spring series, Ken completed his evening’s wing car sweep by taking a narrow, and hard-fought race by two over John Gonzalez and Eliott Martinez. It was close all race from the top to the bottom, with the field of five racers separated by just 7 laps at the end.
Thanks again to Ken for a loaner car, this time a 27 Light machine that I had a blast with. Unfortunately, I spent too much time in the first heat with the car out of the slot.
Statistical anomaly of the night, #2: Eliott set fast lap, but by just two ten-thousandths over Gonzo. In fact, the cars and racers were so evenly matched that everyone’s fast lap was within nine ten-thousandths of Eliott’s.
Results, modified crash-and-burn format (racer.laps.FT):
1. Ken Reese..............385......3.3981
2. John Gonzalez........383......3.3978
3. Eliott Martinez........383......3.3976
4. Scott Taylor............379......3.3985
5. Jim Honeycutt........378......3.3983
